#ShareAHeart 2M

Date: 10th Feb 2016 @ 2:58pm

This afternoon, we have been thinking about ESafety again.   We watched three short ESafety videos where children, in the videos, got themselves into trouble!   We thought about what those children should have done to stay safe online.

We wrote our ideas in our hearts so that we could share our thoughts.

We will always help our friends if they are in trouble.

This is the advice we would give our friends:

Do not put personal information online - Sophie

Do not take pictures of yourself and send them to people you do not know - Aidan

Do not take silly pictures of your private parts and send them to a friend.  Your friend could send the picture to anyone!! - Jack C

Do NOT go on facebook, instagram, whatsapp, youtube - you have to be 13 years old or above to go on these.  Youtube is 16 - Ruby

Do not agree to meet strangers that you have met online.  These can lead to serious problems - Ihna

Never ever go on chatrooms and speak to strangers you don't know - Charles

Don't show anything private - Isla

Don't share your second name online - Elizabeth

Don't share information like where you live - Kitty

Don't text people unless you are absolutely sure of who they are - always ask and check with your parents - Heidi

Why don't you watch YouTube for kids.   Children are allowed to watch this.  Otherwise you have to be 16 or over - Ellis

ESafety Day 2M

Date: 9th Feb 2016 @ 3:12pm

This morning, Mrs Muir held a whole school assembly.   She asked the school what websites they use and what dangers they pose.   We also talked about how old you should be to go on different websites.  Mrs Muir also introduced us all to our ESafety Ambassadors - Erin and Ben in Year 5.  They are going to help the school with assemblies, competitions and other things!

This afternoon, we listened to a story about 'The Adventures of Smartie The Penguin'.  In the story, Smartie receives an email that he is not sure about.  He does the right thing and tells his Dad.  His Dad knows to delete and block the message so that Smartie is safe.

We also did an ESafety class quiz!  The teacher read out different scenarios and we decided what the best thing to do would be.  We discussed all our options and decided who was right and who was wrong.

Finally, we looked at the ESafety SMART Rules....

S - Safe (Keep safe by not giving out personal information)

M - Meeting (NEVER meet strangers that you have met online!)

A - Accepting (Don't accept emails or texts that you are not sure about!)

R - Reliable (Don't trust everything you read online!)

T - Tell (Tell a trusted adult!)

We had a fantastic day and learnt alot!

We have learnt alot about the internet today - all the great, positive things and some of the not so positive things!  We started the day with a whole school assembly.  Mrs Muir talked to us about 'Good Digital Deeds' and gave us ideas as to how we can help our family and friends with the internet.

This morning, we played 'A Web of Connections'.  With a ball of string, we discovered how we can all be connected in some way on the internet - this is why we have to be so careful about what we say.  We also played a game called 'Stand on the Spot'.  Mrs Muir placed different answers around the classroom and she gave us different scenarios that we might find ourself in online.  We went and stood where we thought the answers were.  It made us think about esafety.  Before lunch, we also thought about our own digital promise and Mrs Muir took a photo of us with our promise.

This afternoon we logged onto our school webpage.  We had a discussion with each other about How we can make the internet better?  Following this, we had a tour around school looking at all the decorated classroom doors!  They looked great!
