Homework

Reading:

To link with our Little Wandle Phonics, children will take part in group Reading Practice twice a week. Children will read the same book with a school adult throughout the week. Specific focus will be on the book vocabulary, prosody and comprehension. The children will bring the book home at the end of the week to share at home. Information and questions to ask are in the back of each book if Parents need ideas or support on how to practise the book at home. Children can choose  “Reading for Pleasure” books as often as they like from the class library, to take home.

English:

Please practice the spellings that we send home to learn each week (this will start later this half term). A few minutes playing games and recalling the words each day will really help.

We will send home individual sets of key high frequency words for you to practice with your child whenever you have a few minutes each day. When they have learnt these, we will check their recall, and if they are ready to move on, give them their next set of words.

Please complete English homework with your child. Making sure that the spellings they have practiced for spelling tests are used correctly in their writing will really help. Also, if you notice that your child is forming some letters incorrectly, a little practice working on these at home would be really appreciated.

Maths:

We will be learning all about numbers to 100. We will learn to fluently count in 2, 5 and 10. We will match numerals to a set of objects and represent and count numbers to 100. We will learn about money, fractions and measures (capacity, length and weight).
