Wednesday 8th July

'Sometimes the bravest and most important thing you can do is show up.'

Good morning everyone! Hump Day is here again and another half week gone in the blink of an eye. The weather seems to have turned positively autumninal this week. I think we might need to go and put some more grass seed on the field next week as when, it doesn't rain for months on end so it might mean we get a nice summer holidays!

Has anyone seen the school who build a Minecraft virtual tour? Does anyone fancy taking on the challenge for Marlborough? :) You can take a tour here: https://manchester.coopacademies.co.uk/stories/take-on-the-co-op-manchester-minecraft-challenge/

Times tables:

As children are required to know their multiplication tables up to 12x12 by the end of Year 4, a key area of focus is to develop our multiplication tables knowledge and become times table superstars! Strong multiplication table knowledge is crucial in many areas of maths and children should be able to recall these quickly and confidently. On top of your child's weekly mathematics homework, children should spend some time each week practising their times tables. Please enjoy exploring the times table activities below:

https://play.ttrockstars.com/auth - every child has an individual login for Times Tables Rock Stars.

Homework

It would be really beneficial for the children to read at least 5 times a week.  Even though most children are able to read independently in Year 4, it would be great if they could read with an adult a couple of times a week.  To develop their higher level comprehension skills, please use some of the questions suggested in the documents to download. The children still love being read to, so please continue to read to them too!  It's a great way of extending their vocabulary and providing them with their own ideas for story writing.

Along with regular reading and learning times tables, the children will have spellings to learn and homework will be set weekly to consolidate their understanding of key skills in English and Maths.

The children also have access to Times Tables Rockstars which is a website that will help to develop their multiplication and division knowledge. Please check your child's Maths homework book for their individual login.
