Class 6M 2019 - 2020

Miss Maxwell

Year 4 class teacher

Hello to my amazing 6M!

I hope you've all had a lovely weekend and that you managed to get out in the fresh air!  Please continue to work through your packs today (Monday 30/3).  Remember to choose a maths activity to complete, one reading comprehension (there are some extras in the section below) as well as continuing to work on your history projects. As a guide, i would have expected you to have completed two history tasks over this week but don't worry if you haven't, you can prioritise this more next week.

As the weather isn't going to be quite as wonderful this week why not build a den to snuggle up and read in or you could even try some baking.  Poppy and Billy are very excited about making cakes this week!

Please remember to keep active too. Joe Wicks is continuing with his PE lessons this week.  If dance is more your thing, why not put on one of your favourite songs and create your own dance routine!

I'm sure many of you are missing your favourite lessons at school. Below i have included a link to a fantastic home learning maths lesson with Gareth Metcalfe which i know some of you have enjoyed participating in. Gareth is a Primary Maths consultant and has recorded some online problem solving session which will keep your maths brains occupied for hours. Below this, I have also added a link to Maddie Moate's youtube channel who has been completing a daily Science session which i'm sure you will enjoying exploring as well. Please do record these in your scrapbooks so we can see how hard you have been working.

...And finally for some reading. Please remember to read your book regualrly throughout the day - this is a great way to relax as well as getting some inspiration for writing. We also all love being read to and David Walliams is reading diffferent stories online each day too.

Homework

Homework  - maths, English and spelling - will be set on a Thursday and should be returned by the following Thursday.

Every day, children should be practising their timestables as well as independently reading for atleast 15 minutes.

If you ever have any concerns, questions or positive feedback about any aspects of the homework, then please feel free to contact us.

As children are required to know their multiplication tables up to 12x12 by the end of Year 4, a key area of focus is to develop our multiplication tables knowledge and become times table superstars! Strong multiplication table knowledge is crucial in many areas of maths and children should be able to recall these quickly and confidently. On top of your child's weekly mathematics homework, children should spend some time each week practising their times tables. Timestable Rockstars is a great way to do this and please also enjoy exploring the times table activities in the useful websites section.

Have you found some other fun times table activities? Come and let us know - 6M would love to hear about them.
