Welcome to 6R
6R is taught by Miss Revill from Monday to Thursday and Mrs Beardsworth on a Friday.
Welcome to 6R. Please use our website to find out all about what we will be learning throughout this year, keep up-to-date with upcoming events, find useful documentation linked to our curriculum (see file downloads at the end of this page) and much more. You can also view our gallery and school Facebook page which will show you just how much fun we have had learning throughout this year!
Our theme for the Autumn term is.....
This term we will be taking things back to basics and developing our survival skills. Our lessons will be cross-curricular which means that units of English, History, Geography, ICT and PSHE will be linked together to create a more broad experience. Our History focus this term is The Stone Age and planned activities include: exploring some artefacts, comparisons between periods of history, team building through the use of our forest school resources, writing some emotive diary entries and much more. It would be fantastic if you could encourage your child to collect material from home - or from the library - to support our theme.
Useful websites
Visit the BBC website to find information and watch videos about life during The Stone Age period.
Homework
Homework - Maths, English and Spelling - will be set on a Thursday and should be returned by the following Thursday.
Every day, children should be practising their timestables/corresponding division facts as well as independently reading for a minimum of 15 minutes each night. We still encourage children to read with parents, siblings and other family members to help promote an enthusiasm and excitement around their chosen book. The class would also love to hear any recommendations you may have too.
If you ever have any concerns, questions or positive feedback about any aspects of the homework, then please feel free to contact us.
Children are required to know their multiplication tables up to 12x12 by the end of Year 4, and strong multiplication table knowledge is crucial in many areas of maths studied in Year 6 and beyond. Therefore, by Year 6, children should be able to recall these quickly and confidently. On top of your child's weekly mathematics homework, children should spend some time each week consolidating their times table knowledge. Timestable Rockstars is a great way to do this and please also enjoy exploring the times table activities below:
