Welcome to 6R
6R is taught by Miss Taylor and Mrs Buck, our HLTA, She is in class all day on a Wednesday.
Welcome to 6R. Please use our website to find out all about what we will be learning throughout this year, keep up-to-date with upcoming events, find useful documentation linked to our curriculum (see file downloads at the end of this page) and much more. You can also view our gallery and Blog items which will show you just how much fun we have had learning throughout this year!
In Year 6 this half term, our theme is 'The Great War' and will follow on from our work on the Christmas Truces In December. Our lessons will be cross-curricular which means that units of History, DT, ICT, Science and some Literacy lessons will be linked together to create a more broad experience. Planned activities include: designing and baking a cake or biscuit for soldiers on the frontline, writing our stories, letter and diary entries based upon real historical events and looking in depth at jobs, key events and the impact of war (more detailed information can be found in the downloads area below titled: 'Spring Term Curriculum Outline'). It would be fantastic if you could encourage your child to collect material from home - or from the library - to support this.

Homework
Homework will be set on a Friday and should be returned by the following Friday. In the lead up to SATs, children will be set weekly revision tasks. The pages numbers will be given to the children each week and will also be available in the news items below.
Every day, children should be practising their timestables and reading for 15 minutes.
If you ever have any concerns, questions or positive feedback about any aspects of the homework, then please feel free to contact us.
As children are required to know their multiplication tables up to 12x12 by the end of Year 4, a key area of focus is to develop our multiplication tables knowledge and become times table superstars! Strong multiplication table knowledge is crucial in many areas of maths and children should be able to recall these quickly and confidently. On top of your child's weekly mathematics homework, children should spend some time each week practising their times tables. Please enjoy exploring the times table activities below:
