Class 6R 2019 - 2020

Miss Revill

Year 6 Teacher

Mrs Beardsworth

Welcome to 6R

6R is taught by Miss Revill from Monday to Thursday and Mrs Beardsworth on a Friday.

Welcome to 6R. Please use our website to find out all about what we will be learning throughout this year, keep up-to-date with upcoming events, find useful documentation linked to our curriculum (see file downloads at the end of this page) and much more. You can also view our gallery and school Facebook page which will show you just how much fun we have had learning throughout this year!

Our theme for the Spring term is.....

                               The Great War

This term we will begin our work on World War 1 in history an this will form the stimulus for a writing lessons too. It would be fantastic if you could encourage your child to collect material from home - or from the library - to support our theme. In maths, we will continue to embed our knowledge of the four operations whilst recaping units of measure and shape and space. Lessons will be Cross-curricular where links can be made and, even though we are reaching the crucial time in Year 6, we still endeavour to ensure children recieve and broad and balanced curriculum that is responsive to their needs and interests.

Homework  - Maths, English and Spelling - will be set on a Thursday and should be returned by the following Thursday.

Every day, children should be practising their timestables/corresponding division facts as well as independently reading for a minimum of 15 minutes each night. We still encourage children to read with parents, siblings and other family members to help promote an enthusiasm and excitement around their chosen book. The class would also love to hear any recommendations you  may have too.

The children now have their revision books which they should complete each week. Tasks set will link to the work already covered in class.

If you ever have any concerns, questions or positive feedback about any aspects of the homework, then please feel free to contact us.

Children are required to know their multiplication tables up to 12x12 by the end of Year 4, and strong multiplication table knowledge is crucial in many areas of maths studied in Year 6 and beyond. Therefore, by Year 6, children should be able to recall these quickly and confidently. On top of your child's weekly mathematics homework, children should spend some time each week consolidating their times table knowledge. Timestable Rockstars is a great way to do this and please also enjoy exploring the times table activities below:

Have you found some other fun times table activities? Come and let us know - 6R would love to hear about them.

Please click on the link below and spend some time exploring the range of fun and exciting spelling, punctuation and grammar activities available:
