Details of the Funding

Since 2013, the Government has been providing schools with additional funding to make sustainable improvements to the quality of PE and sport on offer to pupils. Below is an overview of how Marlborough is utilising the money this. For a more detailed report, please see the file download section at the bottom of the page.

How Did School Use the Funding?

How we spent our funding in 2022-23:

  • To provide a continued range of CPD opportunities provided for staff across all Key Stages in a variety of sports including golf, tennis, cricket, football and dance.
  • To begin to develop Fundamental Movement Skills from the Early Years onwards.
  • To continue increase participation in competitions and festival to provide a wide range of sporting experiences for our pupils.
  • To provide pathways for of least active, and least confident in sport, to become more engaged at a school and club level.
  • To support catch up swimming lessons for pupils who have been impacted by closure of leisure facilities as a result of Covid restrictions.

How are we spending our funding in 2023-24?

In 2023-24 we have further plans to develop our PE and extra-curricular provision further. This includes:

  • Sourcing and providing specialised equipment to allow staff to provide high quality lessons for our SEND pupils.
  • Increasing access to a range of sports events and festivals for a larger proportion of our pupils. This will allow children the opportunity to access sport at a suitable level for both their ability and confidence levels.
  • Enhancing and developing our provision of girls’ football.
  • Providing active lunchtime clubs for target children.
  • Providing targeted training for staff to enhance their subject knowledge – through high quality coaches running in class CPD and the attendance of courses provided by local sports clubs.
