Egyptian Music

Lesson: Music

Class: Class 3P Year: 2017 - 2018

The children have been learning about Egyptian music and instruments that would have been played in Ancient Egyptian times.

We listened to Egyptian music that was composed to represent the Ancient Egyptian Gods.

In groups the children chose their own Egyptian God to create a piece of music to represent.

First the children  learned about types of beats and how to create a steady beat and then learned about melodies and how to compose a melody to go with their beat.

Over several lessons the children carefully selected instruments that were appropriate to represent their chosen God.  They then selected an appropriate beat and finally composed a melody.

The children recorded their compositions using symbols to enable each member of the group to know when to play their instrument.

After lots of practising each group performed their composition for the rest of the class.
